Tile & Grout Repair in Victoria, BC
Cracked, loose or hollow-sounding tiles, crumbling grout and failed silicone — repaired properly. A cracked tile is often a symptom, so we look at why it happened before we replace it.
Common tile repairs
Cracked tiles
Single tiles cut out and replaced without disturbing the rest of the floor or wall.
Loose or hollow tiles
Tiles that sound hollow or move have lost their bond. Lifted, cleaned back and reset on full adhesive coverage.
Regrouting
Old, cracked or stained grout removed and replaced — cement or epoxy grout depending on where it is.
Silicone joints
Failed silicone at tubs, corners and changes of plane cut out and replaced, so water stays out of the wall.
Floors that keep cracking
Usually a subfloor that flexes. We check it and tell you whether a repair will last or the floor needs an uncoupling membrane.
Shower tiles
If the tile is in a shower, the question is whether water is getting behind it. See shower leak repair.
Repairs, in our clients’ words

“I would definitely recommend Novo Tile. He repaired two tiles that lost grip and put it back properly.”
Raphael Macasaquit · Google review
“We recently had a serious tile issue in our basement — a leak that our original tiling contractor completely abandoned. Novo Tile, and specifically Vova, gave us real confidence — he clearly understood the scope of work needed and quoted us a very fair rate. Not only did he seal everything back up properly, but he also regraded the tile so it drains better than it ever did before.”

“Really pleased with the result! Professional, tidy, and easy to work with. Highly recommend.”

Can you replace just one cracked tile?
Usually, yes — the grout around it is cut out, the tile removed without disturbing its neighbours, and a new one set and grouted. The hard part is a match: if you kept spare tiles from the original job, have them ready.
What if my tile is discontinued?
We look for the closest match. If there is none, a deliberate accent — a border, a strip or a contrasting tile in a less visible spot — often looks better than a near-miss.
Why do floor tiles crack or come loose?
Most often because the floor underneath flexes, the tile was set without full adhesive coverage, or water got underneath. A repair that ignores the cause tends to crack again, so we look at the subfloor first.
How much does tile repair cost?
Repairs are quoted per job, with a $500 minimum project charge. Text two or three photos and we can usually tell you what is involved before we come out.
