How we install a heated floor
Plan the heated area
Heat goes where you stand — in front of the vanity, the shower and the tub — not under the vanity or toilet. We plan it on the 3D model.
Lay and test
Mat or cable laid out, its resistance tested before and after it is covered, so a damaged wire is found before tile, not after.
Level and tile
A levelling layer or uncoupling membrane over the heating, then tile set flat on top. The build-up at the doorway is planned so the threshold works.
Thermostat
A licensed electrician connects the thermostat and circuit; we coordinate the visit so nothing is waiting on anyone.

Can you add heat under my existing tile?
No — electric floor heat goes under the tile, so the old tile has to come up. The best time to add it is during a bathroom renovation or a new tile floor.

Does a heated floor work under vinyl plank or laminate?
Some systems are rated for floating floors, but electric floor heat works best under tile and stone, which hold and spread the warmth. We will tell you what your flooring manufacturer allows.
